ABOUT THE MEETING

The Chilean meeting of “International Perspectives on Geroscience 2019” series of meetings is very relevant because it will serve to introduce and disseminate the geroscience concept in the region. Accordingly, this will be the first meeting on this topic ever in whole South America, and it will be part of a series of meetings entitled International Perspectives on Gerosciences 2019” that include other meetings in USA, Australia, Spain, Israel, Singapore and China. The aim of the series is “increase and enhance the understanding of geroscience concepts and to encourage researchers globally to integrate these concepts to accelerate the development of prevention and intervention strategies”. The meeting is organized by the Geroscience Center for Brain Health and Metabolism (GERO) and is expected to congregate researchers coming from other Latin American countries. The Scientific Program is using the hallmarks or pillars of aging as the main subjects addressed in scientific sessions. In addition to world-class speakers associated to each of the hallmark or pillar we invited Latin American researchers to showcase the incipient efforts ongoing in our region to support geroscience and aging-related research. In addition to cutting-edge scientific discussions we are including a session devoted to discuss public policies required to transform the way Latin America will face aging.
